Kyle Moti: Transmogrification

Bassist Kyle Moti delivers an entire album in solo bass for 15 songs ranging from 1-6 minutes. His goals is to “plumb the contrabass’ wealth of sonorities, pushing sound to its braking point and revealing the extremities of technique, timbre and dynamic envelope.” That mission is accomplished here, as he shows digital flexibility on “Panjandrums!” wle slapping the strings to submission on “Ax(i)on” and delivers chirps on “Gonx.” Bows screech on “Gimblegyre,” saw on “Skryll” and create effects up and down the board on “Dnomla.” Space is used during “Urrong” and a sense of clutter on “”Multferrous.” Bass is the place!
