For Joey Spampinato: Party for Joe-A Sweet Relief Tribute

Co-founder of the famed band NRBQ, Joey Spampinato has friends getting together to make t his album to provide funds in which to help the bassist pay off financial burdens as  he gets treatment for cancer. All 14 tunes are his compositions, culled from performances  throughout the years by the likes of Los Lobos, Bonnie Raitt, Chris Spedding and Al Anderson. Legends Ben Harper, Keith Richards, Charlie Musselwhite, Don Was and Don Heffington get together for  Chuck Berry riffed “Like a Locomotive” with lots of upbeat boogie-ing produced on “You Can’t Hide”, “Every Boy Every Girl” and the snarling “Green  Lights”. Folksy material has Steve Forbert on “Beverly” and there are some Tom Waits moments with Penn Jillette and Teller on “Plenty of Somethin’”. Frets that heal.
