Richly swinging and sophisticated guitar tones akin to vintage Herb Ellis are rendered by Anson Wright as he leads a quartet with Jasnam Daya Singh/p, Brian Casey/b and Todd Scott Bishop/dr through a collection of originals. Singh’s “All Shall Rise To Thee” is a richly flow of meditative thought, and his nocturne “Merci Mon Frere” has him team gracefully with Bishop’s brushes. Wright’s own “Rahway Blues” is a hip shuffler while he suavely skates on the waltzing “Solstice” with Singh. Blue tones on “Inner Motion” are well hued and he’s patiently spacious with Casey during “Chelsea”. An ax that digs deep.
