Drummer Ari Hoenig leads a modern sounding trio of pianist Nitai Hershkovits and bassist Or Bareket through a mix of cleverly arranged standards and some originals. Of the former, Hoenig’s rapid brush work speeds up Ellington’s “Prelude To A Kiss” to give the mood a hit and run feel, while Hoenig has the team change speeds like a middle reliever on a bluesy take of Cole Porter’s “All Of You,” giving a brush rush to “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered.” Bareket and Hoenig are quite nimble on “All The Things You Are” and clip clop to Hoenig’s own “For Tracey.” The team gives a jaunty pulse to “Guernsey St. Gooseneck” and give a hip little undercurrent to “Anymore.” Busy as bees throughout.
