EARLY BLUES…Blind Blake: The Paraount Years 1926-32

One of the most influential blues guitar pickers is represented on this 3 disc, 74 song boxed set featuring pioneer Arthur “Blind” Blake (1896-1934). His calliope like guitar picking influenced a generation of players from Rev. Gary Davis, Josh White, Blind Willie McTell and baby boomers such as Leon Redbone and John Fahey. You get early and primitive recordings such as “West Coast Blues”. Guests here include Johnny Dodds. His complex fingering style is highly piano like, sounding like a saloon player on “Southbound Rag” and “Slippery Rag”. If you’re a six stringer, you will learn some inspiring licks on this collection. Dig in deep.
