Jack Mouse Group: Intimate Adversary

Drummer Jack Mouse leads a modern post bop team with a front line of Scott Robinson/ts and Art Davis/tp-fh while he and John McLean/g with Bob Bowman/g create hip grooves. McLean and Bowman tug back and forth on a smoky “Jacomo” with Davis’ horn hip on the swinging “Barney’s Fife.” Mouse gives a workshop on style as he snaps everyone in line for the Latinized hard bopper of a title track and his cymbals are shining for “Three Heads Are Better Than One.” The team gets into a gospel mood for “Old, New and Used Testaments” and break into a frisky trio for the frisky and loose “Three Free.” Diverse, but in a good direction.
