Guitarist Josh Maxey teams up with Brian Charette/org, Rodney Jones/g, Chase Baird/sax, Jeremy Noller/dr and a collection of guest six stringers like Rodney Jones for some hip yet modern sounds here. A mix of electric guitar and Baird’s tenor sor well on the swinging “Celebration of Soul” and the two rock out with a heavy back beat supplied by Noller on “Culmination.” The B3 drives hard on “Blues For Page” where as both acoustic and electric strings work compatibly on the somber “Colorado Sunset.” The rhythm section creates a deep pocket on “Cycles of Sound,” with Maxey sounding in control yet exciting throughout.
