Carsten Dahl Trio: A Good Time

Truth in advertising here as pianist Carsten Dahl and his trio with Lennart Ginman/b and Frands Fifbjerg/dr serve up an enjoyable set from a February 2007 gig in Copenhagen. Dahl’s crisp touch has an inherent swing to it, as displayed on the lively “Love For Sale” and assertively bopping read of “Take Five.” With Rifbjerg on brushes, Dahl sashays through a lyrical “What is This Thing Called Love” and everyone goes dreamy on “Someone To Watch Over Me.”  The team runs like relay workout as they get deep in the pocket on “Down With It” and bop till they drop on “Night and Day.” Fresh like the early morning sunshine!
