Brad Hoyt: Far Away From Everyday

Want to try something completely uncategorizable yet simultaneously enjoyable? This guy Brad Hoyt might just be the ticket. He plays piano, guitar, harp and some other peculiar little things in a wide variety of settings ranging from folk to jazz to whatja-wanna-callit. He can sound like the Hot Club of France with some Reinhardt rhythms on a catchy “Sharper’s Revenge” or delve into American folk material as on a wondrously Shenandoah Valley hearkening “Look Inside.” A jazz “Kiss of Fate” indludes Howard Levy’s harp and Josef Pspson Snetivy’s swinging clarinet, while a little funky Mediterranean groove comes up on “Traverse” and a romantic serenade  permeates the evening mist on “Elnora.” Guitars in the realm of steel, harp, classical and 12 strings mix and match with the material, as on the “Impossible Liaison” which seems like you’re wandering through a village in the UK along with flute, cello and even ukulele. Go figure! This disc will charm your socks off!
