Scandinavian tenor saxist Pernille Bevort brings a rich toned sound to her trio of Morten Ankarfeldt/b and Espen Laub von Lillienskjold/dr through this album of original compositions. The spacious trio works well with Ankarfeldt, both flexible and relaxed as on the funky “My Soft Spot” and “Strolling In June”, with a contemplative solo on “Reflections in Three”. Bevort is breathy and blue on “Northbound” and free from in an expressively Coltrane mood for ‘Sleepwalker”, getting into a sleek groove on “Tiny Hesitation” while lovely in form for “ Autumn Equinox”.
