Legendary singer/songwriter Ivan Lins releases a brand new album in a setting made for his romantic pen. He’s backed by a 91 piece symphony orchestra as he sings in solo or duet format with an assembly of kindred spirits of voice. Lins and Jane Monheit sound like starstruck lovers on the wondrous title track, and are hopeless romantics for “Rio”. There’s a bit of a Broadway feel when he teams up with Will Jennings on ”I’m Not Alone” while with Chico Buarque there is a fragrant folk flavor. With piano, he holds a candle on “E Isso Acontece” while getting a bit bluesy on the earthy Afro Funk of “Congada Blues”. Playing the keyboards, he gives a pop feel to “Easy Going and is somber around the muted brass of “Missing Miles”. Gloriously glowing lights.
