SOMEWHERE THERE’S MUSIC…Hery Paz: Jardinos

Playing tenor sax, flute, piano and the oboe-like corneta , Hery Paz creates 10 sonic collisions with drummer Francisco Mela and percussionist/vocalist Roman Diaz on this spark flying album. Paz goes solo on the tenor on an extroverted “Pensamiento” while puffs his way through “Comunion”. Loose and free jams flail on “Arroyo Lajas” and the percussive “Jardineros”. The reedy cornet cries out on “Conga Espirtuana” with flute and sax dancing for “Miel de la Tierra”. Piano strings, voice and drums avalanche together on the earthy “Barrio del Jobo”. Restless village dwellers.
