Patty Tuite: Hard Case of the Blues-featuring Bobby Rush

Patty Tuite belts out the gritty blues on this album as she sings and plays rhythm guitar teamed with Paul Nelson/g, Michael MacHaby/mand, Rico Amero/tp, Brooks Milgate/key, David Johnson-Paul Loranger/b, Justin Blackburn-Jeff Armstrong/g and a handful of guests. Chitlin’ Circuit legend Bobby Rush blows a mean harmonica on the bold “Nothing But Trouble” while trombonist Ozzie Melendez slides like Ricky Henderson on the Crescent City grooved “Goin’ Out To Town Tonight”. Tuite slithers around Loranger’s acoustic bass on “I Want A Lover” and two steps to Ameros’ brassy horn on the splattering “Diggin’ Up Outta This Hole” and the fun “Glad I’m Through With You”. Defiant most of the time at the mic, she shows her more vulnerable side on a spartan “Hard Case of The Blues”. I wouldn’t want to mess with this lady!
