Keyboardist Lou Pomanti takes on a wide breath of popular songs with a wagon load of vocalists and guest musicians on this recent release. The core team of Steve Heathcote/dr, Marc Rogers/b, Drew Jurecka/vi is supplemented by guests including Randy Brecker/tp and guest vocalists galore, such as Marc Jordan and Robyn Black on a bluesy bass lined take of “Come Together” while David Clayton-Thomas belts out a bold read of “Your Mind Is On Vacation”. June Garber gives a poetic “Windmills Of Your Mind” and Matt Dusk croons out “The Nearness of You”. There are also some clever instrumentals, such as a disco’d “2001: A Space Odyssey” while Boomer hits prevail on a soulful “Me And Mrs. Jones” by Oakland Stroke”. A celebration of sorts with a comfortable crowd.
