Playing alto and tenor saxes as well as clarinets, Benjamin Deschamps leads a team of Jean-Nicolas Trotter/tb, Valerie Saulner/voc, Nicolas Ferron/g, Charles Trudel/p-key, Al Borugeouis/dr and Sebastien Pellerin/b through a collection of post modern originals.
His bass clarinet broods with Trottier on they mystical and yet graceful “Healing Chant: The Resurrection” while his alto is urgent on the repeated pattern of the intricate “Unfinished Business”. The team gets a bit chaotic on the cataclysmic crash of “Healing Chant: The Incantation” while digging into some blues bop with Trudel’s keyboards during “Opinion”. Ferron’s edgy guitar rocks out “Augmented reality” while the unison horns float on the fluffy “Anities Oubliees” and the impressionistic “Fearless”. A stroll through a musical Musee d’Orsay.
