On this recently released 2018 session, drummer Jeppe Gram delivers tasty post bop sounds with a vintage motif of a team including Ollie Wallace/as, Tobias Wiklund/ct, Tomas Franck/ts, Jacob Artvet/g and Anders Krogh Fjeldsted/b for a collection of originals.
Gram shows he’s in charge from the outset, opening up the album with a solo lead to the serpentine “The Shooter” which has a California Cool tone, along with the graceful “Where and When” Wallace adds to the urgency of “Other Window” and is bluesy for the relaxed “Come and Go”. Wiklund blows fluffy cirrus clouds on “Pastoral” and blends with the horns which surround Artved on the bopping “For the Love Of The Old Beat”. Gram and Fjeldsted lock horns and beats as they snap here, and slink deftly funder Franck’s thick tenor on “Later Blues”. Timeless tracks.
