Lyrical post bop originals are delivered by rich toned guitarist Gabriel Vicens and his team of Roman Filiu/as, Glenn Zaleski/p, Rick Rosato/b, EJ Strickland/dr and Victor Pablo/perc. Vicens demonstrates his creativity on a solo piece that includes echoes, melody and effects on “Furera de me Cuerpo” while displaying intricate fingering with Pablo on “Caribeno Pensador” and on “Returno” with Strickland joining into the percolating avalanche. Filiu is rich with the leader on the pulsating title piece, and Zaleski gives some passionate modal moods with the galloping rhythm team on “A City of Many Mysteries” and “To the Unknown”. A clever group effort.
