Lyrical post bop is delivered by leader and guitarist Roni Ben-Hur as he brings together a hip team of jazz vets with Ingrid Jensen/tp, George Cables/p, Harvie S/b and Victor Lewis/dr. Ben-Hur rides the snappy groove on Elmo Hope’s “Something For Kenny” and teams with Jensens’ muted horn on John Hicks’ sleek “After the Morning”. The team has a gas with Cables’ own “Melodious Funk” and Lewis rides the cymbal like a man on a flying carpet for “Ma’of”. Tamuz Nissim adds Hebrew lyrics o the earthy “Ha’omnam” and Magos Herrera brings in a husky voice for the richly pulsed “La Serena” and Latin lover of “A Redoblar”. Tasty treats!
