Drummer Ulysses Owens leads from behind with a sharp 17 big band that brings in guest Stefan Harris for extra good vibes. Harris glides over the cascade on the loosely swinging “London Town” and veers around the serious sax section on a rewarding take of Michael Jackson’s “Human Nature”. Charles Turner III shouts out passionate vocals on “Harlem Harlem Harlem” with some driving beats for the strutting title tune. Owens’ brushes caress the elegiac “Red Chair” and the band grooves along on the classic “Giant Steps”. Rewards for the ears.
