Clayton/Pauer/Neumeister: 3 for The Road

Jay Clayton’s voice and electronic join with Fritz Pauer’s piano and Ed Neumeister’s trombone for the brass man’s compositions and some standards in a unique trio package. Clayton’s voice is used for percussion on “Love Is A Place” and he “oohs” and “aahs” on “Yak’n” and the longing “Gobblers Nob”. Voice and horn get quirky for “Badadadat” while things actually sound cohesive and cogent on “It Could Happen To You”. Clayton makes you think “I could do this on a record”, but would you dare?
