Poems are put to voice and music by pianist/vocalist Amanda Tosoff, taming with a core of Jon Maharaj/b, Morgan Childs/dr and Alex Goodman/g along with a string section and guest horns and vocals. Robin Dann brings her lovely tone to interpret Luciana Souza’s “Sonnet 49” with rich strings, while the saxes of Kelly Jefferson and Allison Au lilt to Emilie-Claire Barlow as she recites Edgar Allan Poe’s “A Dream Within A Dream”. Folk sounds are felt on a stark read of Joni Mitchell’s “The Fiddle and the Drum” with Lydia Persaud” while the strings of Aline Homzy and Beth Silver meld harmonies with Bartokian strings on the flowing “Here and Heaven”. Art for poetry’s sake.
