Blossom Dearie-voiced Naama Gheber brings a fluid form and rich vibrato to this rich mix of standards as she’s supported by a simpatico team of Steve Nelson/vib, Ray Gallon/p, David Wong/b and Aaron Kimbel/dr. Nelson’s vibe chime well with Gheber’s girl next door delivery of “Dearly Beloved” as well as when she coos through “You Stepped Out Of A Dream” with a twinkle in her eye and strutting through “I Can’t Get You Anything But Love’. Wong’s bass is a perfect dance partner on the soft noir “So In Love” and the two bop well to Kimmel’s brushes on “S’Wonderful”. Gallon perks her up on a cheery “Sometimes I’m Happy’ and the two are coy on a playful “Just Squeeze Me”. A definite Betty as opposed to Veronica in the Archie Andrews world of song.
