Gregg Kofi Brown: Rock ‘n’ Roll and UFOs

Guitarist/vocalist Gregg Kofi Brown was one of the original members of the pioneering band Osibisa before embarking on his own career. Here, he mixes and matches material that ranges from disco type R&B to pop 70s rock. Carter era soul and funk permeate songs like “How Can I” and the Stevie Wonder-sounding “Nkosi B” whereas  EWF soul on “This Guy” and disco balls sparkle on ”Open Up My Arms.” On the other hand, you have some folksy pieces like “Tender Eyes” and “Summer Rain” which could pass for something by The Eagles, while Summer Rain” could be mistaken for a Doobie Brothers FM hit.   Polished and shiny.
