For it’s second outing, Colin Vallon and his partners Patrice Moret/b and Julian Sartorius/dr continue to delve into deeply lyrical and contemplative interaction. Subtle, delicate and symbiotic, the trio works like a quiet conversation at Starbucks on pieces like “Juuichi” and “Goodbye” where more is stated by pauses and intervals than by multi-note runs. Vallon’s touch is well crafted and thought out, with a deftness on “Rouge” and “Styx” that pairs well with Moret’s deeply rich and molasses thick bass work. The tunes weave together like a Raphael tapestry, with the sum being greater than the parts.
