Fronting an open minded quintet, guitarist Vitor Pereira brings together a two sax team of Chris Williams/as, Alam Nathoo/ts along with Mick Coady/b and Adam Teixeira/dr for eight originals. The two horn front line creates a thick harmony, sometimes weaving in and out of the lead like a horse raise on the bopping “Tag Along” or popping out squawks over the military drum work during “Alternative Facts.” Pereira gets a bit bluesy as the team trudges out a Monkish “Anima” and supplies a dreamy line on “Twilight Tails” while rocking out a bit on the folk dance of “Refreshments.” Lots of nice ideas with loose reins.
