Havana Carbo
Through a Window…like a dream
MODLmusic

If your thing is the Buena Vista Social Club style of Cuban Jazz, your prayers have been answered. Cuban Chanteuse Havana Carbo smoulders like a Romeo & Juliet on this spellbinding collection of love, loneliness and longing. Her sultry husky voice is supported by some of the most agonizingly sensitive musicians around, like Romero Lubambo and Oriente Lopez. She takes a song like Django Reinhardts “Nuages” and, with Oriente’s melancholy accordion, and makes it even more heartbreaking than the original. Dressed only with Lumbabo’s guitar arrangement, she bares her soul on the frightfully haunting “Pra Dizer Adeus”. She lilts to Lopez’s piano and Gabriel Machado’s delicate congas on “Siempre in mi Corazon,” but the fact is that she would win you over reading the Dow Jones Industrial. This lady must be heard to be believed. Stay away from sharp objects while listening to it, however.
