Antonio
Adolfo and Carol Saboya
Ao Vivo Live
Points South
Here is an incredibly gorgeous cd that combines both the sensitive and
celebrative aspects of bossa nova. Recorded during the Miami Festival
in 2005, “Live” features lovely and gentle solo work by pianist
Antonia Adolfo, as well as lively and insouciant vocals by Carol Saboya
during a program that takes on songs by the usual suspects of Caymmi,
Gil and Jobim. Backed by a rocking rhythm section, Saboya is buoyant as
she floats through songs like the delicate “Fotografia” and
the raucous “Canto De Ossanha.” Besides his wonderful contribution
to the full band, Adolfo makes his mark playing some gorgeous solo work,
particularly during the Abertura and “Carinhoso”. This disc
is an absolute joy to listen to, displaying the addictive romance of Brazilian
music like few other recent releases.
