Margie
Notte & Friends Husky-toned vocalist Margie Lotte impressively goes through
an evening ’s worth of standards on this recorded gig from April
06. Notte is strong on timing and rhythm, and gives it a go with the snappy
title tune and bluesy ‘Loverman’. An extra delight is the
drumming of always reliable Cecil Brooks III, who keeps the beat crisp,
and the wonderful tenor and flute work of Don Braden, who almost steals
the show with his solo work throughout. A respectable treatment of the
Great American Songbook.
