Maoz’s Edom
Hope And Destruction
www.eyalmalozmusic.com
By George W. Harris
In the Bible, the Edomites were the descendants of Esau,
who, if you
ever went to Sunday School, was the man who sold his inheritance for a
bowl of porridge and lost God’s ultimate blessing, which instead
went
to Jacob. That little vignette may explain why so much of this music
sounds like it’s destined for destruction, as the Prophet Isaiah
stated,
“(My Sword) shall descend for judgment upon Edom…whom
I have devoted to
destruction”
The music here by Eyal Maoz/g, Grian Marsella/key, Shanir
Ezra
Blumenkranz/b and Yuval Lion/dr is kitschy funk and rock that is what
you expect to hear at Borscht Belt weddings and bar mitzvahs. Unless
these guys have a lot of mishbookah to buy this record, they’re
going
to have trouble selling this anywhere else. Oy Gavault!
