Rita
Edmond So Cal-based vocalist Rita Edmond has put out an eager
to please debut release, which will be a welcome for the fans that catch
her at the local venues. Supported by a snappy team of Joel Scott/p, James
Leary/b, Quentin Dennard/dr along with Ricky Woodard/sax and Nolan Shaheed/tr
for solos, Rita smiles and cheers through an hour’s worth of peppy
standards. Her bright tone is most evident on the perky treatments of
“You’d Be So Nice To Come Home To” and “Day By
Day.” She even kicks “Out Of Nowhere” up a couple of
notches with her good natured attitude. Lots of promise is demonstrated
on this set which sounds like an invitation to see her at some local gig.
