One of the truly great (and last) of the singer-songwriters that populated the earth during the Pre-Columbian days of American civilization, Jackson Browne is featured here in a 90 minute documentary that covers his 2 scores of music on earth. Cleverly mixing footage from every stage of his career with intimate interviews with Jackson and his many associates, this disc is an excellent time capsule of an age and attitude when people thought “we can change the world.”

Interviews with Don Henley, David Lindley, Bonnie Raitt and David Crosby (among others) gives insight into the vulnerable lyrics and music that created an emotional link between Browne and his loyal fans. Performances with the Eagles in the heady 70s, along with a cozy gig with Crosby and Nash, shows the personal style of music that Browne was able to deliver. His liberal politics is discussed as he puts his money where his mouth is during a series of benefit concerts, most notably the famed anti-nuclear gig back when we thought oil was the answer to everything. Interspersed between songs like “Doctor My Eyes,” “Take It Easy” and “For Everyman” are personal recollections, opinions and glimpses by Browne, showing the beating heart that is as soft as you’d imagine from his lyrics. For anyone who likes their music deep an d personal, this ones a good buddy.
