By George W. Harris

Here’s a deliciously thick serving of straightahead jazz by baritone saxist Adam Schroeder. Teamed with the whipped cream combo of Jeff Clayton/dr, John Clayton/b and Graham Dechter/g as the rhythm section, Schroeder oozes like hot fudge over vanilla ice cream on deliciously sweet readings of “I Don’t Wanna Be Kissed” and Cole Porter’s “I Happen To Be I Love.” Quincy Jones’ boppish “Jessica’s Birthday” is sprinkled like Jimmies with Schroeder’s dexterity, while the bass and bari paring on “Just A Sittin’ and A Rockin’” is like a cherry on the top to a perfect Sundae of a disc. A double scoop of excellent music.
