Florian Ross Pianist/composer
Florian Ross puts out his first solo disc here, filled (mostly) with originals,
the exceptions being Coltrane’s “Moment’s Notice”
and Sergio Mihanovich’s “Sometime Ago.” The hours worth
of material is contemplative, reflective and in a mood that imbibes the
waters of both Bill Evans and Keith Jarrett. Using recorded loops as his
only accompanist, Ross creates a sort of an updated Conversations With
Myself with subtle nuances making cameo appearances on many of the tunes.
The result is a mix of ambience and musical projection that is both pensive
yet tensile.
