Here’s a guitarist that has a nice touch and sound. Fairly new on the block, Kreisberb joins with his touring band of Will Vinson/sax, Henry Hey/p, Matt Penman/b and Mark Ferber/dr for some relentlessly swinging modern sounds. He mixes and matches the instruments, going from an intimate duet with Hey on the title track to a cruising trio on “Nice Work If You Can Get It” to some powerful snarling as a full group on “Twenty One” and “Stir The Stars.” Lots of different grooves fly around, with the traditional Greek tune “Zembekiko” luring you in like the smell of Mousaka. The band sounds like a working unit, as they seem to anticipate each other like a long time double play combo. Gonna find a new friend with this guy.
