Roger Glover
and The Guilty Party
If Life Was Easy
Eagle Records

By George W. Harris
Here’s an interesting disc by an old rocker, ex-Deep Purple bassist
Roger Glover, who has literally seen them all come and go. This casual
and flexible disc is quite intriguing in its introspection, with music
ranging from reggae (“Don’t Look Now”) to ska-cum-skiffle
(“The Car Won’t Start”) with some heart on sleeves intimacy
in between (“Box OF Tricks” “Staring Into Space”).
The mix of moods and instruments keeps the music highly enjoyable, and
Glover’s insightful lyrics and voice (along with the haunting Gillian
Glover) make this a surprising success on musical and therapeutic levels.
