Throughout the history of music, bands have made songs for dancing.
Usually, the dancing is for the entertained fans, but once in awhile,
the band combines music and footwork as an artwork in itself. David
Byrne, founder of Talking Heads and still alive and kicking on a solo
career, is here shown on a tour (and backstage and in studio)
performing music from his 08/09 tour, complete with cleverly
choreographed and dressed dancers put together for adding a visual
dimension to the visceral music. The music itself is some of Byrnes
most famous material, such as “Life Is Long” and “One Fine Day.”
Interspersed are interesting and revealing vignettes of Byrne and
others showing how the germination of the show got put together. Going
into the grey matter of one of music’s mad scientists is a treat in
itself, showing how hard work always results in “luck.” Great for the
ears and eyes.
