This 75 minute disc celebrates the 20 year career of Henry Brun’s sizzling band. The sessions, however only span from 1992, but who’s quibbling? Leader and percussionist Brun leads an extroverted and rhythm crazy band through songs as incongruously glorious as a bouncy instrumental like “Linus n’Lucy.” Vocalist Judi Deleon coos through a latinized “Lullaby Of Birdland” and “I Saw A Little Prayer” that make perfect sense, while “Lover Man” sashays like a late night lounge lizard. Besides the pervasive percussion, there are some nice solos by Gabe Pintor/as-ts and Adrian Ruiz/tp that kick a up few notches of the Richter scale. A fun disc to have for your next tail gater!
